Believer; a Christ-like or a Pharisee-like

Believer; a Christ-like or a Pharisee-like

Luke 5: 30-32 …31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Was invited to a church service sometimes back and in their sermon the pastor was instructing the members not to mix with unbelievers, not to dine with them or their kins and not relate with people outside their fold. This seem fine to me, after all we are not meant to be unequally yoked with unbelievers until i read the bible verse above.

Are we Christ-like or Pharisee-like? God through Christ Jesus did not save us so that we can commune amongst ourselves, i believe we were saved so that we can also reach out to people who are yet to be saved. How can we preach to unbelievers if we don’t relate with them? Christ said “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Again i ask you who are you fashioning your life after, brothers and sisters? You play the holy person, you don’t talk to unbelievers, you don’t eat their food, you don’t visit them, then tell me how will they trust you enough to believe your God. The bible said love your neighbor as yourself it did not tell you that neighbor of yours would be a believer.

As a believer, a christian, a God faithful your watch word is love, love irrespective of color, tribe, faith, believe or conviction and only through that can you show the world the light, only by so doing can you win their trust, only by so doing can they see what you saw. Live a semblance of the life of Christ Jesus and not that of the Pharisees and the scribes. Live for Christ!
