You need not be gold, diamond, platinum nor any other shining object for that matter before you are valued.
The desert-man values water, the snowman values fire and a dying man values every extra breath he can draw.
All you need is to know where you are needed and who needs you. Better still create a need for people to value you, but first you need to value yourself!
