Human Righteousness is Not Enough

Human Righteousness is Not Enough

John 3:6 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God…16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

A man Cornelius easily comes to mind, the bible described him as a devoted man meaning he was righteous, straight forward and God fearing. However, the bible recorded that all these still were not good enough to save him hence he was told to go and get Peter to guide him to salvation.

Human righteousness, our sincerity, our love, our commitment, our giving, our openness etc are not sufficient to save us. You can be righteous humanly speaking; you don’t lie, you don’t cheat, you don’t womanize, you don’t kill but all these would still amount to nothing if you don’t accept Christ as your Lord and personal savior.

I would love to tell you that good people would make heaven but unfortunately this is not true. Heaven is not the home for good people but a home to the saved (people who are saved by the blood of the Lamb). The bible recorded in Isaiah 64:6 …and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags…, so what we call being good or being righteous is compared to rags, you can only make this rag clean when it is washed in the blood of Christ.

Dear friend, your righteousness, your good deeds alone can’t save you, you need Christ in your life to be saved. “What shall it profit a man to gain the world the loose his soul”. Don’t focus on how life is now, focus on what eternity holds. This is not about religion or sect, salvation is about Christ, Eternal life and You.

Wishing you the best of understanding and personal encounter with Christ. Stay blessed
