Having A New Life
By Adegboyega Adetoro
It is better to conquer yourself than to win thousand battles. When you conquer yourself, you earn victory that cannot be taken from you, not by angels nor by demons, heaven nor hell, friends nor foes.
In our different lives, we all have things that we wish to change, those things that bring us troubles, heartaches, regrets or shame over and over again. Given that what we do consistently, defines the kind person we are, then conquering ourself gives us the control over who we become.
You have to decide specifically what it is that you want to change. It isn’t enough to want to stop something but you have to raise your standards to the point where you begin to see that thing as something that you would never do again.
If we really desire to change we have to exchange the old behaviors for new ones, better still we create alternatives to fill the void and not only will we be fighting off our “own demons” but we will also be empowering ourself to live a better life.
You have to be determined, and dedicated, and you have to know that having a new life is not a sprint, it is a marathon. With God on our side we will have a new life dedicated to growing into the person that God had designed for us to be.
