The Greatest Martyr
This is no Superhero tale, not an Hollywood presentation and this is definitely not a Marvel series. This goes beyond the story of our modern day martyrs; people who laid their lives so that others might enjoy a better world, people who fought for what they believed to be true and laid their stakes where and when it mattered most. People who in death are celebrated as if they live on names like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther-King, Guy Valentine, Mahatma Gandhi etc easily comes to mind.
But this is greater than all that, this is a story of a man who lived and died so that people who barely appreciate him can have not just life but life even after death. This is about a man that took so many strokes and lashes so that men could be healed. He went through the death process so that he could set free the saints who died before him after which He swallowed death in victory. Finally, He rose to redeem man and gave man a second chance at reconnecting with God.
This is the story of a Martyr that did not only die for others, he also resurrected for their sake and defeated man’s archenemy. He offers all these free, all paid for by His water and blood, and He lives on. Crowned with His Father in Heaven, He pleads for mercy on you and I’s behalf, so that we might be restored as Perfect “the work of the sixth day”. Some call Him Prince of peace, others call him King of Kings, you can call Him the man with the most powerful name but I call Him the greatest Martyr of all time and man’s ticket to a second chance. He is Jesus Christ.
