Do Whatever It Takes

Do Whatever It Takes

Your life, with all its ups and downs, has molded you for the greater good. Your life has been exactly what it needed to be. Don’t think you’ve lost time. It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the current moment. And every moment of your life, including this one right now, is a fresh start. If you have the courage to admit when you’re scared, the ability to laugh even as you cry, the nerve to speak up even if your voice is shaking, the confidence to ask for help when you need it, and the wisdom to take it when it’s offered, then you have everything you need to get yourself to a better place.

Ordinary people choose the way of I cannot do it; successful people choose the way of I can do it. I think it is time for us to start giving certain words their proper meaning. An example is the word “impossible”. Impossible doesn’t mean it cannot be done, it only means it is yet to be accomplished. Until this is done, man will continually live in the illusion of inability and hopelessness. Provoke your inner energy; Challenge yourself and you will achieve amazing things. Be your biggest competitor – challenge yourself each day to be better than you were yesterday. A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes hard work.

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. People who lack the clarity, courage, or determination to follow their own dreams will often find ways to discourage yours. When you change for the better, the people around you will be inspired to change also….but only after doing their best to make you stop. Live your truth and don’t EVER stop.

Whatever you do, do with determination. You have one life to live; do your work with passion and give your best. Whether you want to be a chef, doctor, actor, or a mother, be passionate to get the best result. Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe. You’ve done it before and you can do it now. See the positive possibilities. Redirect the substantial energy of your frustration and turn it into positive, effective, unstoppable determination.

You cannot let a fear of failure or a fear of comparison or a fear of judgment stop you from doing the things that will make you great. You cannot succeed without the risk of failure. You cannot have a voice without the risk of criticism. You cannot love without the risk of loss. You must take these risks. I just got one last thing; I urge all of you, all of you, to enjoy your life, the precious moments you have. Nothing great could be accomplished without enthusiasm, to keep your dreams alive in spite of problems whatever you have.

Trade off to Success

Trade off to Success

“To get one thing that you like, you have to give up another thing that you like.”

Some will say you can’t eat your cake and have it, if you have eaten it then it is gone; the irony of life. The cost of something is what you give up to get it, the cost of building your own dream is to give up building another man’s dream.

Unfortunately, most of us want to eat our cake and have it. We want to party all night and still excel in the exam we write in the morning; we want to live in sin yet enjoy unlimited Grace; we want to lay idle yet except something to happen; we want to stay in bed and hope success will find us there… To have what we desire most we have to give up what we desire least. It is called sacrifice or trade off.

Winners embrace hard work. They love the discipline of it, the trade-off they’re making to win. Losers, on the other hand, see it as punishment. And that’s the difference.
Lou Holtz

Trading off is not an easy thing to do, losing what you desire is never fun, no matter how small it seems but the truth is that it will be worth it. It takes discipline for someone to give up what he is enjoying at moment just for the sake of what he is to enjoy in some distant future, a discipline many of us lack and the reason it has been difficult to change our status.

What are those things you need to give up to be able to focus on your goals? Deep down you know you have to let some things go, you have to avoid some sets of people and stop taking advice from some group of friends. These are little inconveniences you will have to bear if you desire to reach those goals. Trade offs are must on your route to success and a stitch in time saves nine!

5 Things Problems Bow To

5 Things Problems Bow To

Problems are part of living, in fact the general believe is that problem are like exams, if you are fully prepared it can’t keep you down for too long and if you surmount it, you get promoted to the next level in life but if not, many lesser problems comes to complicate issues. Problems are often not the end of life even though some may seem insurmountable but with a positive attitude and wonderful awareness, they move from being a stumbling block to being a stepping stone.

Every problem is a gift – without problems we would not grow. – Anthony Robbins

There are 5 powerful instruments that one can use to combat problems, each is efficient in its own way but not absolute. Smart people have learned to combine as many as possible for maximum result. I like to share this with you and I hope you will be able to make your choice and use them to set yourself free.

5 powerful instruments (in no particular order)

1. Power: This simply put is your ability to influence or control things. This can be exhibited through strength, words, affluent, weapons, manipulations, influence or position. Power puts you over challenges associated with oppressions. When you are in a position of power, many people become your friends or allies and all struggling to favour you just to be in your good books. Problems that come your way easily give way when you throw your weight around, little wonder people in position of power hold on to it like it is tied to their life.

2. Pounds: This is the unit of measure; money, gold, resources, wealth and possessions. Money answers to almost all problems, especially when you have it in excess and know how to use it. Some say money cannot buy happiness and a wise man replied, “they don’t know where to shop”. When you have enough resources, your problems move from not having enough to having too much. People who would have constituted problems struggle to be your friends. Money changes how we view and conceive things, wealth steps in and comfort becomes insatiable, that’s why it is bad not to have but worse to have had but lost it.

3. Prayers: This is seeking higher powers to intervene on one’s behalf. Prayers are pleas to high authorities; God, people in high places, higher understanding or self consciousness. Prayers are meant to stimulate miracles, a change that maybe unmerited or favour that goes beyond the ordinary. Problem bows to prayers, evidences abound even though, there always seem to be a logical explanation but so also some are beyond comprehension.

image

4. Persistence: When you continue in a path you become a specialist on that path, you become an authority (power), and when you speak people will listen (influence). Problem has a way of giving way to people who won’t quit. Persistence has been used by many dream builders to make their dreams come true. Persistence teaches them to make better decisions, take calculated risk, turn bad situations to their advantage and in some cases just hang in their till the bad wind blows off.

5. Passion: This include sentimental appeals that usual finds common ground with quite a number of people, such as love, religion, ethnic sentiments, crusade, common hatred and other sentimental appeals. Through passion power; control and influence is handed over people, putting them above some problems. Passion is also strong enough to bring wealth and create affluent.

Problems are meant to take us to the next level and this can only be achieved when we overcome and move ahead.

It is wise to direct your anger towards problems – not people; to focus your energies on answers – not excuses. – William Arthur Ward

Virtue of Patience

Virtue of Patience

Ama in her frustration, screamed back at them saying “I should Leave him? Have you forgotten my age? I am 35, how many men will want to marry an old hag?” Ama was a beautiful young lady, her father James was a Ghanaian who came to Nigeria to work and met Ayoni, her mother. They fell in love, got married and they had two kids Ama and Kojo. When Ama was twelve (12) and Kojo was eight (8) their dad fell sick and died, and since then their mother had done her best to make sure the two of them never lacked anything.

Ama graduated as a nurse and got a good job at a university teaching hospital with a comfortable pay but there was just one problem, men issues. Ama had been disappointed by different men in her life, so when she met Joe though she knew he was not what she wanted, she was desperate enough to take whatever is available. She felt she was not getting any younger, more so, all her friends were already married with kids. When she introduced Joe to her mum, she was sceptical about him and she advised Ama to be patient and not rush things but Ama wouldn’t hear of that.

image

One day when she was going out with Joe, she came across an old classmate,  Paul. She was so excited that she forgot Joe had warned her about male friends, it was with that joy that she ran off and hugged Paul. When she was done exchanging pleasantries with him, she introduced him to Joe, “Paul meet my fiance, Joe!”. In response, Joe gave her a dirty (brain re-setting) slap and walked out on her. She was left so embarrassed and humiliated that she bursted to tears, Paul tried begging her but she pushed him away and ran after Joe.

When she got home, she told her mother and  her best friend Diana the story, they both advised her to break up with him. Ama in her frustration, screamed back at them saying “I should Leave him? Have you forgotten my age? I am 35, how many men will want to marry an old hag?” Diana however tried to calm her down,  “Ama, you need to be patient, your own man will come”.  That statement  got Ama even more infuriated, (Ama now facing Diana), “Diana, all my friends are married with kids including you and I have become the official Chief Bridesmaid even to younger sisters and cousins. Listen I’m not going to break up with Joe. It was just a stupid mistake and he has apologized, so let me be, more so he was just being protective because he loves me”.

“A man who slapped you while courting will beat you up when he finally marries you. Marriage is too long to endure abuse and molestation whether physically or emotionally because in the end it will cost one or more lives. Ama be patient, don’t rush things” those were the exact words of her mother. At that point Ama stood up hissed and walked out.

Ama got married to Joe and barely 6 months into the marriage Joe started misbehaving. He would beat her up at the slightest provocation or mistake. Everyday was hell, she wished she had listened to her mother and Diana, if only she was just patient. One day she was at home peeling oranges when Joe stormed in, claiming he saw someone that looked like her in man’s car. Before she could explain herself, the beating had started, in a bid to defend herself, she stabbed Joe with the knife she was using to peel her oranges. Joe died from excessive bleeding and Ama was imprisoned.

Day after day the words of her mother kept coming back to her “marriage is too long to endure abuse and molestation whether physically or emotionally because in the end it will cost one or more lives. Ama be patient, don’t rush things”. Only if I had listened, only if I had been patient, Joe will still be alive and I will still have my freedom even if I am not married… all these were the thoughts she battled with as she remained incarcerated.

Benjamin Franklin said “He that can have patience will have what he wills”. Lots of times, we want things done in an instant but some things take time not every of our heart desires will be granted immediately. We don’t have to give up because some things are not working out or settle for less because what you want is not readily available. Trust me, if we are patient good things will surely find us. Often times when it seems too long, it is because God is preparing something big. Nothing good happens overnight, it takes a continuous effort, patience and determination.

A decision made in haste ends in the waste. I know we don’t want to end our life in regrets, so I urge us to be patient with our dreams and most especially with God. He knows the end from the beginning, sees further than we can ever see and He understands the things we are not even aware of, that’s why we (you and I) need to trust Him.

Patience is a virtue we need to learn and put to practice. Every great and successful person passed through that dark moment, a phase that only patience can light one’s path. Patience gives birth to Hope and Hope helps one to endure till success comes.  The fact that your friends have gone ahead does not mean you are a failure, there is enough room at the top. Don’t be in a rush, you are designed to be a success but remember, your friends are not you. You are special and you will definitely make it, if you don’t give up.

God didn’t spend time creating nobodies! He created wonderful people and because God invested in you, you are already a success! The great business mogul Warren buffet once said “No matter what you do, you can’t have a baby in one month even if you got nine women pregnant at the same time”. You don’t need to give up right now, what you need is to be patient and let God have his way. You are definitely going to succeed. Your success story will be heard but don’t forget to be patient with God. Remember any decision made in haste most times lands in regret. You are a champion, so stick to the right path, it will take you to the top.

I love you and I believe in you!

God bless you!

Hope: The Tyler Perry Story

Hope: The Tyler Perry Story

There is a man I so much love and respect I discovered something great about this man, he never achieved his success overnight, he never gave up he had the hope that his dreams will come pass, if you are a big fan of Madea then you will know this man it is no other person but the Madea character himself “TYLER PERRY”.

image

Born into poverty in New Orleans, Louisiana on 13th September 1969 as Emmit Perry Jnr, as a child he suffered abuse from his father like he once said that his father’s answer to anything was to beat it out of you and he even attempted suicide once just to escape his father’s beatings, the only place he found refuge was in church which his mother took him once a week and in an effort to distance himself from his father at the age of sixteen he changed his name from Emmit to Tyler Perry, he never completed  his high school degree but he earned a General education development which is known as GED (a diploma for adults which is equivalent to a high- school diploma). A simple advice from Oprah Winfrey set his career into motion, encouraged to keep a diary of his thoughts and experiences, he began writing a series of soul-searching letters to himself, the letters were full of pain and in time forgiveness became a healing of emotional release, his writings later inspired a musical called I know I’ve been Changed.

In 1992, he gathered his life savings of about $12,000 in hopes of staging a play he spent all his money but people never came and Tyler once again came face to face with poverty that had plagued his youth, he spent months sleeping in seedy motels and in his car but his faith in his God and in himself only got stronger, he kept writing and in 1998 his perseverance paid off , a promoter booked I know I’ve been changed for a limited run at a local church-turned-theatre and this time people came out in droves and Tyler never looked back. Tyler Perry has earned US $130 million between May 2010 and 2011, in 2011 Forbes named him the highest paid man in entertainment and today he is a nothing but a success story. He is a man who had hope and never gave up.

Samuel Smiles said “Hope is like the sun, which as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us” Hope is that stubborn thing in us that insists in spite the challenges it believes that something better awaits us; all we need is the courage to keeping believing, keep reaching, keep working hard and not giving up. There are times when it looks as if the world is crashing and it seems like your good dreams will never come pass but I want you know all you need to do is to hold on to your faith, keep your hopes alive and don’t give up.

I have good news for you it doesn’t matter where you are, your background, your past, who your parents are you can actually make it if only you keep working hard and you keep your faith alive there is always enough room at the top. I know it may be hard right now but I want you to know that God has not forgotten you. You are in God’s plan, so do not be discouraged. All you need to do, is to light that candle called “Hope” and keep it burning, for a brighter future awaits you. Morgan Freeman didn’t appear in a movie until age 34, and didn’t get a big role until he was 52, he kept doing what he knows how to do best, he didn’t lose hope in spite of his age and it paid of. He is now one of the highest paid artist.

Anne Frank said “When there is hope, there is life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again” as long you are still breathing and you are still alive you can make it, don’t lose that hope of making it, sustain that hope! Of course, the road is not going to be easy, every great man has been there but what made them great was that they never gave up. You are born to be great, God never made you a failure, failure is just temporary, if you have failed get up and get going.
Remember, you are not a failure, you are a success and the world is waiting for you because your story will inspire generations if you don’t give up, I challenge you today to sustain that hope and keep your dreams alive because you are born to be great! I believe in you! Keep working hard! The best you can be is number one!

God bless you

Keep your hope alive!
