What God Wants From Us

What God wants from us

The truth is that our success or otherwise does not rest on what God can do for us because God is faithful to His words but what becomes of us is dependent on what we can do for God. How we deliver on what God expects from us.

I always tell people that God is the Lord of principles. For everything you want to get from God there is something that you must do. He operates the barter system, if you want “A” He expects you to give “B”. Hmmm, so what are the things God expects from us?

1. A perfect life
Perfection is possible! Many have concluded that it is not possible to be perfect, to keep all commandments and stay upright before God but it is possible, if it were not the bible won’t have asked us to be. Matt 5:28 But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect and if you are perfect, Psalms 1:1 Blessed [is] the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly. You will be blessed like father Abraham.

2. A faith-filled heart
Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the proof that you believe in possibilities with God. Matt 17:20 He replied, “…if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. So tell me what else do you need to turn that situation around?

3. A giving hand
Prov 28:27 Whoever gives to the poor will never lack, but whoever shuts his eyes to their poverty will be cursed. This is the secret to giving, when you give to people who can’t repay you, you are challenging God to reward you. Mal 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. And even when you don’t have much, you can work for God in the vineyard and you would be equally blessed abundantly.

4. A thankful heart
King David became the man after God’s heart because he had a grateful heart, always eager to worship and praise God irrespective of his own situation and people’s expectations. Praise moves God to your situation, praise is telling your present situation how big your God is and how He has overcome previous situations.  God inhabits in the praises of His people (Psalms 22:3). Doors prayers can’t open are breeze through for praise.

5. A kingdom seeking soul
Matt 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Note, it said all these things, meaning if you seek the kingdom of God; you will be perfect before God, you will have faith in God, you will have compassion for fellow humans and you will appreciate God with all your heart. Hence, all the promises of God shall come to pass in your life.

Note, a believer living in penury, lack and shame, is yet to discover the powers in the God he serves or if he has discovered it then, God has a bigger plan and needs to train him on how to manage what He has in store for him.
