How to Get God?
Isaiah 43:10 Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
The above are the promises of God to those who love and walk faithfully with Him. However, we still find faithfuls who don’t have all these promises fulfilled in there lives not because God is unfaithful but because they lack knowledge and understanding of God’s expectations from them. Knowledge is key, lack of it enslaves. Little wonder the scriptures said, my people perish for lack of understanding.
There are many ways to get God to fulfill His promises, of course after you have pledged your life and ways to Him through Christ. Of all these many ways 3 stands out for me.
1. Prayer: Matthew 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith. Contrary to many’s believe that prayer is an avenue to make requests only, it is actually an opportunity to commune with God. It allows you to remind Him of His promises, make requests, appreciate Him for who He is and finally listen to his response. It is the most used method but the least effective of the three i want to share with you.
2. Praise: Revelations 4:11 worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created. Praise is an avenue to give glory, honour and power to God. It combines worship, appreciation and adoration. Praise is letting go of all your worries while you celebrate God. This requires high level of faith because rather than seeing your troubles, by faith all you see is God’s glory. While prayers prompt God to send angels to attend to you, praise moves God, Himself, to attend to you because He inhabits the praise of His people. Little wonder the gates of the prison were flung open for Paul and Silas, King David became a man after God’s heart and Christ started all His miracles with praise.
3. Service: Service includes every of our activities engineered towards bring people to God, expanding God’s kingdom on earth and ensuring that more people sing His praises; both physical and financial commitments, not one in isolation. Hebrews 6:10
For God is not so unfair as to forget your work and the love you showed for him in your past service to his people – and in your present service too.
For most of us, we believe this is God asking for too much (i am too busy, i don’t have much, i don’t want my friends to see me or i am shy) but trust me if you can give God this much then there is nothing too much for Him to give you. When you commit in service to God, He becomes obliged to fulfill all He has promised you according to his riches in glory (and that is much more than you can wish for if you ask me).
You as a believer are meant to combine these three amongst others to get the most from God.
Stay Blessed
God is wonderful
